The trail around the northernmost part of the BCT in Wayland, the “Nike Site” or “Oxbow Meadows” is temporarily altered while construction of a playing field is in progress. Instead of going west when entering Wayland from Lincoln, walkers are directed by BCT signs to go east to the other side of the housing. The total length of the change makes the walk about two tenths of a mile shorter. In the other direction, when leaving Wayland to enter Lincoln, walkers are also directed to the temporary path. If no replacement of the destroyed part of the old trail is possible, the change may become permanent.
